Book Dwain Woode, MD
I was the doctor who treated diabetes.
I was also the man who had it, and hid it.
I was diagnosed in medical school and treated thousands of patients for the disease I had without telling any of them. That is the talk.

Why Audiences Connect
A trusted voice in metabolic health and practical transformation.
He has been on both sides of the desk
A physician who carried the diagnosis he was treating. Audiences hear a clinician and a patient in one voice.
Signature strength: making complexity simple
Blood sugar science and behavior change, explained without losing depth.
Built for any audience
Healthcare teams, faith communities, corporate wellness, medical conferences.
Signature Talks
Three talks. One physician on both sides of the diagnosis.
Built from two decades with patients — and from living with the disease he treats.
Why blood sugar is a readout, not the whole story — and what actually changes the trajectory.
- What drives type 2 beyond sugar — insulin resistance and an overworked pancreas
- What remission means, who it is realistic for, and what it takes
- How to read glucose and A1C as information, not judgment
Not every urge to eat is hunger. A physician’s guide to appetite, food noise, and what the new medicines change — and what they don’t.
- The difference between physical hunger and the urge to eat — and why it matters
- Why we eat when we are not hungry: habit, stress, grief, and culture
- What GLP-1 medicines cannot carry alone — and what to build alongside them
We do not default to our goals. We default to our design.
- Why knowledge, intention, and willpower do not produce behavior on their own
- How environment, defaults, and friction shape what people and organizations actually do
- Why a system that works only while you hold it up is not durable — and how to design one that lasts

What Audiences Say
In their own words.
Program Director Endorsement · Jacksonville University
“Dwain Woode, MD, kindly shared his time, expertise, and knowledge with our Dental Implantology Residents at the Jacksonville University Comprehensive Oral Implantology Program in a positive, motivational manner. He taught our residents the “how-to” for managing patients with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus who need dental implants to replace missing teeth. …
Dr. Woode’s 2-hour presentation and discussion with the residents was engaging. The presentation was well thought out and beneficial to our residents, as he addressed them as fellow medical professionals and discussed how to provide the best possible treatment for patients with diabetes who are about to undergo these surgical and restorative procedures, both with and without sedation.
Since Dr. Woode took the time to meet with our residents, they have a better understanding of how to help diabetic patients manage their diabetes-related medications, control their real-time blood glucose levels before and during surgery, understand the significance of the HbA1C, and know when and what types of food should be consumed in the lead-up to the day of implant surgery. …
As the Chairman of the Implant Residency program, I am grateful for the collaboration he provided to our residents.”

The Clinician Behind the Presentations
A physician who teaches what the exam room never had time for.
I’m Dwain Woode, MD — endocrinologist, author of The Diabetes Exit, and founder of Woode Life Design™. I care for patients across the full metabolic spectrum.
I was also diagnosed in medical school, and I did not tell my patients for most of my career.
I was the doctor who treated diabetes. I was also the man who had it. For a long time, those two facts lived in completely separate rooms, and I made sure the door between them stayed shut.
The Diabetes Exit — prefaceThe body is always responding. What it is responding to is the whole question — and that is what I teach on stage.
